A new UK 50p coin has just been issued to mark 80 years since Europe claimed victory in the Second World War.
Originally seen on the £2 coin issued for the 50th anniversary, the design has been updated to include the inscription ‘In Peace Goodwill’, taken from Winston Churchill’s book series, The Second World War.
Signifying the end of six years of hardship, the coin features the Peace Dove, designed by the late John Mills.

Each coin comes presented in official Royal Mint packaging, which details the incredible events that took place across the nation 80 years ago.
This is a poignant tribute to a defining moment in history.
