15th February 1971 was the day that British currency as we knew it changed forever.

As every serious coin collector knows, Decimal Day as it was dubbed was a huge turning point for UK coinage, as we waved goodbye to Pounds, Shillings and Pence.

Now, fifty years on, it seems only right that the biggest change to UK currency in over a thousand years should be commemorated on brand new UK 50p coin.

The bespoke, nostalgic reverse design by Dominique Evans is inspired by the currency that was replaced in 1971, and perfectly conveys the transition from pre-decimal to decimal coins. The obverse features the fifth effigy of the Queen by Jody Clark.

This coin has been struck to a Brilliant Uncirculated finish, the condition that collectors covet because you know it will be free from any of the blemishes or scratches that you’d find on the coins in your change.

Your coin will arrive in its official bespoke Royal Mint presentation pack, so you can keep it safe and in pristine condition for generations to come.
